J.P. Mitchell is an educator, author and speaker. A wife, mother and daughter, she believes that a huge part of her assignment in the world is to help children see their own greatness in the mirror of adults who love them. She has served children as a classroom teacher and in other education roles for 21 years.
J.P. believes that children’s literature is a way to both beautify and change the world. She is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators and a grateful participant in the Highlights Foundation’s legacy. Most recently, she has discovered the beautiful Courage to Create community, as well. Connecting with author minds and celebrating the work of other creators is a source of great joy. In her family life, J.P. Mitchell enjoys outdoor adventures, music making and travel with her husband and two children–including the daughter who inspired Sweet Fire.

Fuuji Takashi is a children’s book illustrator and character designer based in the Philippines. She is best known for illustrating Mariah Carey’s first children’s book, The Christmas Princess.
